Submitted by nick on Thu, 08/21/2008 - 04:59.The Ubuntu Georgia US Team is proud to announce Atlanta Linux Fest 2008!
The Atlanta Linux Fest is the place to come and learn, discuss, and discover your next favorite system!
Atlanta Linux fest will be host to many distributions: Ubuntu, Debian, Fedora, OpenSUSE -- all on the bleeding edge of innovation. If you are curious about what makes Linux the ultimate operating system, you definitely want to attend this event! There will be Live CDs available so you can try out the latest releases on your machine without installing anything.
There will be demos of distributions, installation help, user support for all your favorite distributions, and drawings for prizes! All you have to do is register to come (it's free!) and there will be pizza available for a $5 donation to the event.
Demonstrations will include IBMers showing off Symphony, multimedia, dual-booting for your college kids PC, Fedora 10, and much more!
This event will be held on Software Freedom Day. The Atlanta Linux Fest will celebrate the freedom Linux distributions provide and help educate users about the benefits of using high quality free and open source software in education, government, home, business -- in short, everywhere!
This event will be held:
Saturday, September 20, 2008, 11am - 6pm

For those who have never attended a face to face meeting, it is a place that you can come, eat lunch, and talk to other Ubuntu users from around the state. Typically, there is a short presentation given at the meeting. Meetings usually last 2-2 1/2 hrs.
Locations will be announced soon. Check the Georgia LoCo Calendar for updates. (see left-side navigation menu, under "links")
